The calendar suggests that winter is for retro’s and spring is for futurists. On March 20th at 5:45 PM CDT the Vernal Equinox has ushered in a new season. This day is one of two that occur within each calendar year; it is a period when the hours of daylight equal the hours of darkness at night. While the pre-glow of dawn and after-glow of dusk fudge the truth behind the definition, the equinox always is a harbinger for change. So while today continues to feel a bit like winter with the weather terrorists threatening a 6 inch snow, the promise of the Gregorian calendar gives me hope for longer days, warmer weather and a busy spring migration.

I knew it would have to end at some point. Forty posts in forty days was a record for me, but the fun of sharing a new image accompanied with a novel thought couldn't last forever. Let's not overlook one little fact... this blog thing is more hobby than anything else, and the money I make from photography barely covers what I shell out to host this site. As I've honestly declared in the past, I am an amateur who chases wildlife and landscapes out of a personal passion and any income I derive is a bit of extra gravy on my pile of mashed potatoes. While I fully intend to reach my goal of 101 "Did You Know's," this race to the end will need to wait until summer when my teaching obligations are dramatically diminished. Until that time, I will follow the past practice of posing one blog a week about photography, travel, nature, evolution or whatever else creeps into my thick skull. Thanks to all of you who have checked in periodically and followed my work...
